Looking Back & Moving Forward - in Your Own Way

As the year begins to wind down, many people feel a certain pressure to sum it all up neatly. To celebrate everything. To tie up all the loose ends, to feel joyful and grateful and excited. For some this comes easily, while for others, this season can stir heavier feelings that sit right alongside the joyful parts.

There is room for all of it. You can remember the bright moments and still admit that some parts were hard. That is not failure - that is what being human looks like.

When I look back on my own year, the strongest feeling I have is gratitude. I have worked with incredible clients who have shown courage, softness and honesty again and again. I have watched people quieten their inner critic, rebuild confidence, manage anxiety with more clarity, and move through fears that once felt impossible. Seeing people grow in ways that feel real and sustainable is a genuine privilege.

I have also been learning to look after my own energy more, getting more comfortable with words like ‘no’ or ‘not right now’ when I need to protect my spare time. I’m still working on it, but I am moving towards a pace that is more in line with what I teach!

As we move toward January, here is something I want you to know. A new year can be motivating if you enjoy that kind of fresh start, but it does not set the pace for your growth. You do. You’re likely seeing the usual ‘new year, new you’ messages everywhere, but there is no rule that says you must begin again on a specific day.

If the new year energy gives you a lift, wonderful. If it makes you feel pressure or comparison, you are allowed to step away and choose a gentler path. Real change arrives when your subconscious mind feels safe enough for something new, not when the calendar says so.

I will be taking time off over Christmas and the new year, so if you would like support in January, please do book your sessions ahead. I would love to help you start the year in a way that feels grounded, hopeful and aligned with your needs.

And thank you for being part of my year! Whether you came for sessions, joined me online, or simply supported my small business with your good wishes, it means more than you know.

Wishing you a warm and gentle end to the year, Ellie.
