What is hypnotherapy and how does it differ from hypnosis?
Hypnotherapy is a gentle yet powerful way to create positive change from the inside out. It combines relaxation, focused attention and therapeutic conversation to help your subconscious mind let go of unhelpful patterns and adopt new, healthier ones.
Unlike stage hypnosis, you are never ‘under’ or out of control – it’s more like being in that dreamy state between waking and sleeping. You’ll still be aware of everything being said, just deeply relaxed. My role is to guide you safely through the process and help you make the changes you want to see in everyday life.

What can hypnotherapy help with?
People come to hypnotherapy for a wide range of reasons – from stress, anxiety and confidence issues to sleep problems, phobias, and unwanted habits like smoking or nail biting.
It can help with all sorts of specific or non-specific issues, from supporting women through menopause, to helping professionals overcome imposter syndrome.
I work both online and in person in Wadebridge, North Cornwall, so you can access support wherever you feel most comfortable.

Is hypnotherapy safe, and what if I can’t be hypnotised or I’m a bit sceptical?
Yes - hypnotherapy is completely safe. You remain fully in control throughout and can come out of the relaxed state at any time. It’s not about losing consciousness or being “under someone’s control”; it’s a natural state of focused awareness that we all experience daily, such as when daydreaming or becoming absorbed in a book.
You don’t need to be highly suggestible for hypnotherapy to work, just open to the process. Even if you’re sceptical, you can still benefit. My role is simply to guide you into a calm, comfortable state where your subconscious mind becomes more receptive to positive change. Many clients are surprised by how natural it feels and how quickly they begin to notice results.

How many sessions will I need, and how long does each one last?
The number of sessions depends on what you’d like to work on. For most clients, four to eight sessions is a good starting point, though some people notice shifts after just one or two.
Each session lasts around an hour, and we’ll review your progress together along the way.
If you’re unsure whether hypnotherapy is right for you, you’re very welcome to book a free 15-minute Discovery Call so we can chat through what’s going on and how I can help.

Does hypnotherapy work online?
Yes, online hypnotherapy is just as effective as in-person sessions. Research shows that hypnosis delivered via video call works because the therapeutic process relies on your ability to focus and relax, not on physical proximity. Whether you’re working on anxiety, sleep, confidence, or phobias, the same techniques apply online.
All you need is a quiet, comfortable space, a stable internet connection, and headphones if possible. Many people even find online sessions more relaxing, as they can work with me from the comfort of their own home. The experience is calm, private, and fully interactive, and I’ll guide you throughout, just as I would in person.

How do I choose the right hypnotherapist for me?
The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and understood. Look for someone who is professionally trained, insured, and experienced in the area you’d like to work on. You should also feel able to ask questions and take things at your own pace.
I’ve been practising hypnotherapy for over two years, supporting clients both locally in North Cornwall and across the UK online. My approach is friendly, evidence-based and focused on helping you feel safe, relaxed and capable of change.
