What is hypnotherapy and how does it differ from hypnosis?
Hypnotherapy is a gentle yet powerful way to create positive change from the inside out. It combines relaxation, focused attention and therapeutic conversation to help your subconscious mind let go of unhelpful patterns and adopt new, healthier ones.
Unlike stage hypnosis, you are never ‘under’ or out of control – it’s more like being in that dreamy state between waking and sleeping. You’ll still be aware of everything being said, just deeply relaxed. My role is to guide you safely through the process and help you make the changes you want to see in everyday life.

What can hypnotherapy help with?
People come to hypnotherapy for a wide range of reasons – from stress, anxiety and confidence issues to sleep problems, phobias, and unwanted habits like smoking or nail biting.
It can help with all sorts of specific or non-specific issues, from supporting women through menopause, to helping professionals overcome imposter syndrome.
I work both online and in person in Wadebridge, North Cornwall, so you can access support wherever you feel most comfortable.
Check out my page What Can Hypnotherapy Help With, where you’ll find an extensive list of my areas of experience, and how hypnotherapy helps for each.

Is hypnotherapy safe, and will I stay in control?
Absolutely. When practised by a qualified professional, hypnotherapy is completely safe. You’ll remain fully conscious, in control, and able to stop or speak at any point.
It’s important to me that you feel safe, calm and supported throughout every session. I often say:
“To heal, you must feel safe – safe in your environment, with the person you open up to, and within yourself.”
That’s the foundation I build all my sessions on.

How many sessions will I need, and how long does each one last?
The number of sessions depends on what you’d like to work on. For most clients, four to eight sessions is a good starting point, though some people notice shifts after just one or two.
Each session lasts around an hour, and we’ll review your progress together along the way.
If you’re unsure whether hypnotherapy is right for you, you’re very welcome to book a free 15-minute Discovery Call so we can chat through what’s going on and how I can help.

What if I can’t be hypnotised or I’m a bit sceptical?
That’s completely fine - a lot of people feel the same way at first! Hypnosis isn’t something that’s done to you; it’s something we create together. You don’t have to “believe” in it for it to work, you just need to be open to relaxing and following gentle guidance.
Hypnosis is actually a very natural state. We all drift into it many times a day - when you get lost in a book, daydream on a train journey, or drive a familiar route and suddenly realise you can’t recall each turn. During hypnotherapy, we simply use that same focused, relaxed state on purpose, to help your subconscious mind respond to new, positive suggestions.
Even people who arrive saying, “I don’t think I can switch off,” usually find themselves pleasantly surprised by how calm and clear they feel afterwards. The experience is different for everyone, but it’s never about losing control or being “under”, it’s about reconnecting with yourself on a deeper level.

How do I choose the right hypnotherapist for me?
The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and understood. Look for someone who is professionally trained, insured, and experienced in the area you’d like to work on. You should also feel able to ask questions and take things at your own pace.
I’ve been practising hypnotherapy for over two years, supporting clients both locally in North Cornwall and across the UK online. My approach is friendly, evidence-based and focused on helping you feel safe, relaxed and capable of change.
